Individually built electric guitars, handmade in the UK.
No myths. No magic. Just handmade electric guitars that feel right.
Unique electric guitars – built by hand from premium and reclaimed materials. Original hardware, sourced in UK where possible. These guitars are the closest to 100% UK built that you are likely to find.
Nottingham City Guitars is primarily an instrument workshop, specialising in hand-building original NCG Guitars.
NCG Guitars are individual designs, based on a common bespoke footprint and 25.5” scale length. Each NCG guitar is unique, being hand-carved, sanded and machined. No two are ever exactly the same.

You may be thinking it looks shabby. Damn right. The top is made from tiles from the old floor of Rock City, the very reason I wanted to come to Nottingham in the 90s when I was a spotty teenager obsessed with metal. If you ever went to rock city pre-2017 or whenever they took the floor up, you’ve probably walked on my guitar 😀
This amazing instrument was built by Andy at Nottingham City Guitars, who is a master craftsmen and a lovely bloke. He has lots of other models so if you’re in the market for something different.
The guitar arrived early on Monday morning. I have now had a chance to play it, I am absolutely blown away with the way it sounds, nothing like anything I have played before. I am very happy with it.

I’ve been keeping a close eye on NCG since meeting their fine luthier at a guitar show. And falling rather hard for a Bayou. Love Barrie’s playing and very fascinated by the blue guitar with the single P90 pickup. Cool placement.
Superb shop – unpretentious and friendly. I bought my 335, a Cornell amp, a Mayson acoustic with Marshall amp and numerous pedals from Andy, who has a wealth of knowledge and is always helpful.

I just wanted to thank you again for the fantastic job you did on my Martin guitar. It looks as good as new(ish), which given the state you received it in is no mean feat!
Richard
So thank you.
The Moneymaker is still the most authentic woody 335 tone I have ever experienced. I suspect this comes from your hand picked tone aluminium. The Moneymaker is such a versatile guitar. I have no idea why people shy away from alternative construction materials in the guitar world. Andy has no fear in stepping outside the box when he builds these great guitars.
Wow, very original guitars! They all sound great!! Cheers to Andy, his work and his shop!
Hi Andy,
Richard
I have been watching your 'Making of' the Rock City Guitars videos avidly! I am absolutely impressed with the skill and craftmanship that has gone into these two guitars. I am glad one is mine!
So much impressed in fact that I'm thinking even more about the Bayou OMV in Vandalism Yellow that I saw when I called round the shop in November.
I loved this guitar and it has been on my mind ever since.
I've just watched the video where you said you might take it to auction. I'm just wondering if it has gone yet?
Looking forward to Rock City Part 3 and of course the actual guitar!
Thanks and best regards
I’m small-handed, and usually prefer the Gibson scale length, (obviously I knew prior to buying that the Apostles are 25.5inch) but these guitars have just an absolute tonne of “mojo” – for want of a better word – so I don’t even notice the stretch.
James
Both guitars sounding amazing through a Dr Z Wreck Jr combo with just a Xotic BB pre-amp overdrive + a Vahlbruch delay pedal. Proper players’ guitars these – addictively so – and tough too – so I’ll probably lend them (briefly) to a couple of local semi-professional guitarists – word will soon spread!
Thank you once again for making these very very fine guitars.
